Abstract
Data warehousing (DW) provides an excellent approach that facilitates gathering and integrating heterogeneous data
from distributed sources and extracting useful and reliable information to support the decision making process of an organization.
In this paper, a case study is performed to build a DW for the sales and shipping system to enable analysis of the data in the OLTP
(online transaction processing) database. This case-study is used to describe and compare vari-ous conceptual and logical design
models for data warehousing. This comparison is done to find which of the conceptual and logical data models are more appropriate
for implementing data warehouse for sales and shipping system.
